The Vijay starrer Vettaikaran was being shot in the AVM Studios and an expensive set, costing around Rs. 3 crores, was erected for the purpose. A few scenes were shot at the sets but the unit was in for a rude shock this morning when they came to know that the sets were badly damaged in a fire accident. With this, the shooting of Vettaikaran has suffered a set back apart from the huge losses incurred by the team. Produced by AVM Productions, the film is directed by Babu Sivan. Anushka pairs up with Vijay in this film.

The film Vettaikaran has Ilaiyathalapathi Vijay and Anushka in lead roles. The film’s shooting is in progress in the AVM studios at Vadapalani. The set is erected on the seventh floor of the studio. The shooting took place up to yesterday night.

After the shoots were completed the actors and the crew left the shooting set. Later at morning 3 dark smokes comes out of the set and at once it is informed to the fire control office.

More than ten fire trucks came to the spot and fire fighters tried their maximum to control the fire. But the fire spreads to the 6th floor and the set is completely destroyed. After a big struggle the fire fighters brought back the situation in control.

And so the fire to spread on to other floors is prevented. On the first investigation it is found that the fire is due to the electrical leakage in the set. Because of this fire accident AVM studio lost more than 3 Crores in the destruction of expensive set of Vettaikaran.
